Birthday Week

Princess Garden Party

I look forward to birthdays at least 4 months in advance.   This year for Natalie's 4th birthday we had a Princess Garden Party (just our family and Grandma Toone).  Because it was one of the hottest days of the year, we played our games inside: kiss the frog, pass the poisoned apple, and musical chairs.  After each game the kids were able to fish for a prize at the fish pond.  We had a nice dinner of heart-shaped ham sandwiches, veggies and dip, and fruit kabobs, and butterfly cake (Natalie had so much fun helping me decorate it) and ice cream for dessert.  Natalie loved the whole day.

Super-Hero Training Camp

Thomas turned 5 years old on Friday and he is already saving the world!  After attending super-hero camp he can:
  1.          Detonate bombs (pop balloons)
  2.         Save children and animals in trouble (obstacle course in our backyard)
  3.         Carefully pick-up and properly dispose of Kryptonite (pick up green painted blocks and put into a cooler)
  4.       Chase and shoot down villains with a gun (silly string gun that is, and Jared was the evil villain sent to destroy the birthday fun)

It was a fun week although the twins got some type of stomach bug which completely floored them.  They are doing better now although they are still very tired and grumpy.

Already the End of Summer

We had a great end of summer vacation.  Here are some pictures of what we’ve been up to.

Sundance--Stewart Falls

This hike is so beautiful.  We hiked on a overcast day fairly early so it drizzled on us and was cold near the falls but luckily we got back to the car just before it poured.  It was only 4 miles roundtrip but I was dead tired after having to carry one of the twins part of the way.  For lunch we brought a picnic of sunbutter sandwiches (made from sunflower seeds but looks and tastes like peanut butter) and ate them at the resort.

Children’s Parade

The kids had a blast decorating their bikes and being part of the children’s parade.  Thomas even won the award for the “Craziest” Bike.

Logan and Bear Lake

We headed up to Logan for a few days.   We had a delicious Navajo taco dinner up the canyon with Kathy’s Family.

We took the kids to the Cache County fair.  My parents joined us with Camille’s kids, Ian and Elise.  Thomas really struggled complaining about his eye hurting from the previous night when Abigail had thrown a handful a dirt into his face.  We took Thomas to the doctor who told us there was a bit of dirt still stuck in his eye and that his eye was pretty scratched up.  Fortunately it only took a couple days to heal (our bodies are so amazing!).

We spent Saturday at the Schmitt family reunion.  We were especially excited to see Emily and Tanner’s family with their two beautiful girls all the way up from Arizona.

Sunday we were able to attend Carson’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony.  Congratulations Carson! We are so impressed with all you have accomplished.
