Summer Fun

We decided that this would be a good year to put Thomas and Natalie in swimming lessons.  The kids loved it and had a lot of fun.

Here are a few pictures of some of our other recent activities:

Monte L Bean Lifescience museum: The kids loved, loved, loved going here.

Below are pictures from our backyard beach party.  Natalie kept yelling "this is the best beach party ever!" All we had to do was fill the sandbox full of water and sit back and relax as the kids played for a good couple of hours.

So the other day I was taking the kids out of the tub when I noticed this thing stuck to the twins bedroom window.  It turned out to be a hummingbird.  Usually these birds are zooming 100mph through the sky and we don't get to really look at them, but this one decided to perch on the screen. It was alive and didn't seem to be injured.  We stared at it for a good 10 minutes and was still hanging on when the kids lost interest.  Later in the day it was gone, so I'm assuming it finally decided to fly away.

Summer Vacation

As you can tell from the picture above, it is summer time in Yellowstone. We were especially excited to see some animals up close, which wasn't the case last time we visited.  To entertain the kids we let them have our old camera.  Here are a couple of their best pictures:

Saturday afternoon the weather cleared up and we had lunch in the parking at Old Faithful, it was sunny and fairly warm.  Abigail managed to throw-up twice, one time in Amelia’s hair. We thought it was because she had gagged on her food (little did we know more was on the way!).  We headed off to see Old Faithful and it started to drizzle.  We waited 25 minutes for the geyser to shoot and 5 minutes before it went off it started to pour.  Amelia, who had missed her nap, started screaming. Finally the geyser went off, but because we were in the wrong direction of the wind, all we saw was steam.  When the show was basically over we made a mad dash to the van with Amelia screaming the whole way—she was kind of like a siren and the tourists moved out of our way. We were soaked through.  On our way back to the cabin Abigail started throwing up again and was sick the rest of the evening, but luckily, she was better Sunday for the rest of the trip.

We stopped by the sand dunes in St. Anthony on our way to Logan.

After Yellowstone we had a wonderful visit in Logan (so sorry, we didn't get the camera out). Our highlights of our Logan visit include visiting Jared's Dad's grave on Memorial Day, going to the new toy store with Grandma, riding the bus to get pizza, having a fun picnic and fishing at First Dam, and having a delicious BBQ at Kim & Kathy's in their beautiful backyard. What a great way to kick off summer.
