5 Day Pets

Last Friday was Farm Day at Thomas’s school.  When we first heard about the event Thomas was in tears because he said he had to bring a pet, and of course we don’t have one.  So it was convenient that the Monday prior to Farm Day our neighbor had found a frog in her yard and didn’t want to keep it.  So we had a pet frog for a few days.  We searched our yard high and low for bugs for the “froggy” to eat and couldn’t find any, however we did find a salamander in the sprinkler box.  We put the salamander in with the frog and bought some little crickets for the amphibians to eat so that we could take them to farm day.  Those two were the hit of the farm, at least to a few loyal kids that kept coming back to hold the pets.  The poor frog got dropped a couple of times but I think they made it out okay.  The first thing we did when we came home was to release our pets by the irrigation canal—free at last (I’m referring to myself more than I am to the pets)!
